The Perfect Storm

Sometimes life gives you the perfect storm, and in our case, the perfect snow storm! A crazy “blizzard” hit our community this weekend and Casey and I seized the opportunity to take some very special maternity photos.

Once the storm settled, Casey and I found ourselves curled up on the couch admiring the beauty of the newly fallen snow. I looked at him and said, “Hey, do you think if I can find a dress in time, we can go take maternity photos in the snow?” And that’s all it took, it was settled, we were going to take pictures. I quickly sent out an ISO on facebook requesting help from friends and family to find a dress as quick as possible. Even with overnight shipping options, there was no way the mail would be coming anytime soon with the roads as bad as they were, and every local store had “closed” plastered all over their social media pages.

Thankfully, a dear friend and new momma reached out and had the perfect dress! This dress was not only new with tags but it was also the most perfect soft pink color for our sweet girl! She had ordered the dress from PinkBlush and it fit to a “t” (the pale pink I’m wearing is sold out, but other colors in the same off-the-shoulder style can be found here). Once I had the dress I started thinking about accessories and it didn’t take me long to remember that I wore the most beautiful head piece for my bridal shower that my sister got me in Hawaii— and what do you know, it went with the dress perfectly. Last, I wanted to add some jewelry and oddly enough, had just bought some pale pink accessories the day before on sale at Old Navy for our upcoming baby shower— and there you have it friends, we were ready!

We waited until the next day for better light, less heavy snowfall, and a tad warmer conditions and I’m so glad we did. It was the perfect storm. The weather was just warm enough for me to be comfortable the whole time (the fleece lined leggings, wool socks, and snow boots hidden under the dress certainly helped as well), but cold enough that the snow was plentiful and sticking to all the elements, and there was just enough precipitation in the air to create a magical scene for our sweet girl to see one day. We had a lot of fun getting these shots and are overjoyed at the thought of sharing them with her one day!

Anxiously counting down the next 7 weeks until we meet our girl!
