CoMo Wellness Conference Update

I had the pleasure to be a Partner in Health for the second year in a row at the CoMo Wellness Conference.  This year's conference was held on April 21st at The Crossing and the slogan was "To Heal Your Mind, Start with Your Body."  Wow.  Isn't that powerful?  The keynote speakers included Dr. Kelly Brogan, Kelly Reid, PhD., and Dr. Chris Link.  A variety of breakout sessions were also included this year!  Topics of the breakout sessions included case studies from the keynote speakers, intro to yoga, what to eat, epigenetics, and a beginners guide to homeopathy.  Aside from learning from each these amazing speakers and breakout sessions, the Partner's in Health fair was amazing!  The fair has grown so much in just one year and it was so exciting to be a part of.  Every single participant left with some pretty awesome swag and it truly was humbling and rewarding to share Beautycounter's mission with each individual.

While listening to the speakers I learned that food can be very healing to the body which is why it's so important to not only focus on what you're putting on your skin but also what you're putting in your body.  There seems to always be so much to learn and of course there's always new research coming out and being developed, which is why continued conferences such as CoMo Wellness are so beneficial to our community.  I leave feeling refreshed, rejuvenated in my mission, and ready to take on the world.

I found Dr. Link's discussion to be very engaging and most impactful for my current lifestyle. Dr. Chris Link dove into his insights on Alzheimer's disease and how to reverse and/or reduce the diseases's symptoms.  He stated, "there are biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease 20-30 years prior to an Alzheimer's patients physical symptoms begin.  This shows we need to act early."  He indicated starting with your diet and including vegetables, beans, lentils, whole grains, fruits (particularly berries), meats, fish, poultry, eggs, nuts of all kinds, olive oil, few sweets, and a glass of wine could provide great benefits.  He also noted to use time restricted eating.  This includes fasting overnight for 13 hours, including 3 hours before bed time.  This alone can improve metabolism, lower cholesterol, lower blood sugar/insulin, enhance fat burning, and leads to healthy nutritional ketosis. But you know what the best part was?  For me, it was when he gave us a key ingredient to better health.  Something so obvious it's almost embarrassing we don't do a better job of making it more of a priority in our busy lives.  He stated, "A revolutionary treatment that makes you live longer.  It enhances memory and creativity.  it makes you look more attractive, keeps you slim, lowers cravings.  It protects from cancer and dementia.  It wards off colds and flu.  It lowers the risk of heart attack, stroke, and diabetes.  It improves mood and lessens depression and anxiety."  Want to know what it is?  Sleep.  That's right! Sleep. He recommended reading Matthew Walker's book, Why We Sleep, to learn more about this revolutionary breakthrough.  I've definitely added it to my must read list.

Like I mentioned already, I left this conference feeling empowered and ready to not only continue my mission with Beautycounter, but to also begin making more positive changes in my nutritional lifestyle.

My sweetheart had flowers sent to the event! I so appreciate his support and encouragement.
